Volunteers to Staff Tucson Festival of Books Booth
Here’s an opportunity for you authors and independent contractors to market your books or services. We are looking for people to staff the booth at the March 13-14 festival for any length of time. Enthusiastic IABC/Tucson supporters are welcome to help out, too, and extol the virtues of IABC. If you’re interested, contact Paul Tumarkin, pkt@barkingshelby.com. Two volunteers have already sign on!

Congrats to Our Pet Photo Winner

Alicia Atalla won the drawing for a free sitting and picture with her grand-doggie, Jade, a six-month-old chocolate lab. Congratulations! Kris Dorst of Four-Legged Photography provided a certificate for the free services to IABC/Phoenix, which graciously passed it on to IABC/Tucson.

IABC/Tucson Assembles 88 Comfort Kits

Lori Block of the Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless took away 88 kits and a few extra supplies for Operation Deep Freeze after our Martin Luther King Jr./Civil Rights Day lunch. Twenty attendees provided the donations and energy to get the assembly done. Thanks to everyone who participated. Special thanks to the efforts of the UA Communication Club and non-member community volunteers. And thanks to members Michelle Rau for suggesting the event and Paula Bohte for making contact with Operation Deep Freeze.

Photos and a follow-up report will appear on our Facebook page soon. An article about the event appeared in the Jan. 19 issue of the Arizona Daily Wildcat.

Block suggested other upcoming volunteer opportunities: a Jan. 26 annual count of the homeless and Tucson Homeless Connect on Feb. 19. For details, contact Block via e-mail or at 745-9443
